The Course: A full Ironman distance of 3.8km swim, 180.2 km bike race and 42.2km marathon run.
Venue: Langkawi Island, an island in the northern state of Kedah Darul Aman, Malaysia. The swim will take athletes around a triangular lap. Water temperature is between 26°C -29°C and wetsuits are not allowed. The bike legs is a two lap affair taking competitors through a flat coastal roads and rolling hills inland, including a new 6.5km out and back section on the Northwest part of the Island. The marathon course starts at Dataran Lang, and will take the athletes through Kuah Town to Galeria Perdana and return to Dataran Lang twice. Generally flat with long gradual climb from 4-10km and 24-30km stretch.
Weather: Langkawi is a tropical island with its temperature reaches a low of 28° C and a high of 35° C. Torrential rain is possible at any time around the year.
Qualifications: Participants must be above 18 years of age on race date. Entry Fee is US$340 payable to LIEM Sdn Bhd.
Prize Money: The prize purse is a total of US$50, 000. Cash prizes are for the first 10 professionals in both male and female category. All finishers receive a medal and the top three finishers in the age group category will receive a plaque.
Slots to Kona, Hawaii. 35 slots are available to race in the Ironman Triathlon World Championship. Four slots for professional and 29 slots are for age-groupers and 2 slots Top Malaysians. Age group is divided into five-year categories.
