A Blast of a day on Langkawi
Looked like a bit of a mish mash of activities, but we all like sun, sea and sand in our family so how could we go wrong. And we didn"t. We had booked out a private trip on Stardust, the Langkawi charter yacht. We"ve quite a big family as it is, but the in-laws were down and we had to do something with them. Ohh the pressure!
Stardust worked perfectly. We started by doing some Eagle watching. Eagles are fed fish by the Stardust crew and we couldn"t believe our eyes as maybe 100 eagles and kites whirled around.
First stop was after just 3 miles. We went to a lagoon, hidden behind a cliff. Spectacular. Tall limestone jungle clad cliffs surrounding a peppermint green lake and only accessible through a cave in the cliff. No supercalifragilistic.
Lunch was basic, western comfort food. Salady stuff with pizza, past chicken. Just what we wanted and even Gary couldn't demolish what we had on the table.
After lunch we joined in sailing the ship home. Gary on light duties went on the wheel and the rest of us hauled on ropes.
We hadn't realised it but Mansor had carried on trawling and just before we got home, there was a flurry of activity at the stern and a good sized fish appeared on deck. Around 2 foot long which is neither colossal, nor toddler. We weren"t sure what to do with it but Mansor suggested we took it back to the hotel and asked them to cook it.
Our last activity was a trip to fish farm. A bit touristy but the kids lapped it up, especially Gary who made pals out of a friendly sting ray.
Verdict. A blast of a day and not too expensive. We were on a special Stardust promotion they gave us free food at one ofthe hotels and that made it even more reasonable. Thank you Mansor! Thank you Stardust!
