Airport Security Gets a Boost
Airport security in the country, particularly at the KL International Airport, will now be beefed up with the deployment of an additional 256 security personnel, said Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd chairman Tan Sri Dr Aris Othman.
The 114 women and 142 men have been appointed auxiliary police personnel after they graduated from their six-month Aviation Security Training held at the Malaysia Airports Training Centre in Penang. Dr Aris said he was confident that security at all airports under its management would be enhanced with the extra manpower. I believe the auxiliary police are now more capable, efficient and responsible in carrying out their aviation security duties after the training.
Besides learning about laws and marching, they were also trained to use security gadgets such as bomb detectors and fire extinguishers, he said at the graduation ceremony at KLIA's Bunga Raya Complex here yesterday. Dr Aris said Malaysia Airports now has some 2,000 security personnel nationwide.
