15 Teams In Langkawi Marathon Endurance Challenge

Two Singapore outfits are among 15 teams taking part in the Langkawi International Nature Challenge (LINC) 2004 on Aug 24-25, said LINC 2004 organising committee chairman Mohd Rizal Mat Hassan. He said RM50,000 worth of prizes awaited the winning team of the marathon challenge, held inconjunction with this year's National Day celebration."Each team will face tremendous physical and emotional challenge, non-stop for 36 hours beginning Aug 24," he told a news conference here Monday. Mohd Rizal said each team had to plough through 12 disciplines in the challenge including swimming, kayaking, jungle trekking, obstacle course and mountain biking. "The challenge will take some 400km around 14 Langkawi islands," he said. Mohd Rizal said there were plans to make the event an annual affair for the National Day celebration.
