Sabah-Langkawi Tourism Collaboration
Instead of competing with each other, Langkawi and Sabah will see more collaboration in promoting the destinations, The Borneo Post reported.
"In the tourism industry, we are like brothers and sisters, and we should not be competitors. We more or less support each other,†said Dato Hj Anwar Abd Rahman, general manager of the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA).
He said that they have been trying to promote Sabah to visitors to Langkawi and vice versa.
Sabah`s strength is its eco-tourism and, Anwar said, in Langkawi, they 'should do our best in preserving its nature.â€
Langkawi`s efforts should not end in promoting visits to Sabah. 'At the same time, tourists on direct flight from China or Hong Kong and arriving in KK, should be made to realise that there is another exotic island alternative to Bali and Phuket,†he said.
