Malaysia Back on Holiday Track
It's tourism business as usual in Malaysia - and Malaysia Airlines and the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board will be keen to reinforce that to visitors at the AFTA-Advertiser Holiday Expo.
The impact of the tsunami on Penang and Langkawi has not affected the tourist operations and holiday planners will be able to get the latest holiday details.
The ASEAN Tourist Forum will be held in Langkawi from January 21 to 29, with more than 400 travel organisations attending to promote their holiday products to buyers from 55 countries including Australia. India and Russia are sending the heads of their national tourism organisations to explore areas of tourism promotion to and from their regions.
The forum, held annually since 1891, showcases Asian travel opportunities. The latest in Malaysian details and also India tourism on show at the Langkawi forum also will be available at the AFTA-Advertiser Holiday Expo.
Although Penang had debris on beaches, the cleanup is complete and hotel occupancy is above 75 per cent, with tourist attractions on the island not affected. Malaysia Airlines flights are operating as scheduled and Penang has value packages.
Later this year, Malaysia Airlines aircraft from Adelaide will have upgraded facilities in all cabin classes under a "new experience in the sky" worldwide fleet program. Details will be at the airline's Expo booth.
