Malaysia Airlines Grabs Golf Championship Crown
Malaysian Airlines team emerged champions in the 16th Inter-Airline Management Golf Tournament at the Empire Hotel and Country Club on Monday. The meet hosted by Royal Brunei Airlines saw four other member airlines vying for honours.
They were Malaysia Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines. Malaysia Airlines team with a total score of 359 came out top followed by Thai Airways (345 points), former champions Garuda Indonesia (344 points), RBA (325 points) and Singapore Airlines (323 points).
In the individual event, Chali Awang Abdul Hakim of Malaysia Airlines was the Overall Gross winner with a score of 79. Second was Ismed Arifin (83 gross) from Garuda Indonesia and third was Malaysia Airlines' Capt Abdul Aziz Rahmat (84 gross on count back).
The RBA team was headed by Peter Foster, its Chief Executive Officer, while Malaysia Airlines team was led by Dato Ahmad Faud bin Mohd Dahalan, its Managing Director.
Singapore Airlines team was led by Bey Soo Khiang, its Senior Executive Vice President Operations and Services while Thai Airways was headed by Narongsak Sangapong, its Executive Vice-President Special Projects. Garuda Indonesia was led by Richard Budihandianto S, its Executive Vice-President Engineering and Maintenance.
The guest-of-honour, Pg Dato Hj Abd Hamid Pg Hj Yassin, Deputy Chairman of RBA, presented the prizes to the winners. Malaysia Airlines will be hosting the 17th edition next year.
