AirAsia: Good Response to Bangkok-KK Daily Flights
AirAsia is confident of maintaining a 70% to 80% load factor for its newly introduced direct flights between Bangkok and the state capital.
The airline's subsidiary in Thailand, Thai AirAsia, said on average more than half the seats for its daily flights between Bangkok and here had already been booked for the next two months.
`We are committed to building up this route,` Thai AirAsia chief executive Tassapon Bijeleveld said yesterday.
The first direct flight from Bangkok arrived on Thursday evening.
Tassapon said the airline would aggressively promote its Bangkok-Kota Kinabalu service in Thailand jointly with the Sabah Tourism Board for the next 18 months.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Chong Kah Kiat said the direct flights would enable more European tourists to come to Sabah via Bangkok.
Chong, the state Tourism, Environment and Culture Minister, said 2.2 million European tourists flew to Bangkok last year compared to 450,000 who went to Kuala Lumpur in the same period.
