TTG Travel Awards reaches new heights
This year's TTG Travel Awards winners received the biggest-ever endorsement from their peers and were honoured in a night of fame, glory and glamour on October 12 at Sofitel Central Plaza in Bangkok.
Attendees at the awards ceremony were informed that the Travel Awards poll forms, which were distributed online and in print to more than 28,000 TTG Asia and TTG China readers in more than 14 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, received a response rate of more than 30 per cent.
TTG Asia's editorial team also selected Banyan Tree Holdings executive chairman, Mr Ho Kwon Ping, Travel Personality of the Year. Mr Ho was chosen for his vast contribution to the Asian tourism industry, for being a trendsetter, for refining Asian hospitality and for raising the bar on conservation in the places his properties are located. Mr Ho delighted the crowd when he delivered his acceptance speech both in English and Thai.
China was chosen Destination of the Year by TTG Asia as it represented a 'total tourism model'. It has both a huge domestic and inbound market, something outstanding offered by every province, an outbound market sought by travel organisations everywhere and an ever-increasing profile in the lead up to the 2008 Olympics.
