Getting Around Langkawi

GETTING ARROUND LANGKAWI

TAXI

Taxi is the best option of getting around the Island, as bus is not available in Langkawi. Ensure that to use only the licensed taxis identifiable by their yellow roof sign. It would also be wise to check taxi-fares at the terminals to prevent your being overcharged as charges are not metered. The following are the official rates, as published by the Ministry of Tourism:-

VEHICLE RENTALS

The extensive network of good roads provided easy accessibility to every part of the main island. Car rentals are easily available either at the Airport or at Kuah town and cost around RM 80.00 to RM 150.00 per day, depending on the age and model of the vehicle. For safety, ensure that the vehicles are insured and that driver has a valid driving license. Driving in Langkawi can be dangerous, due to wandering water buffaloes and cows, especially at night. Drive cautiously and carefully and enjoy the good roads and scenic beauty the island has to offer. Following are rate provided by Kasina Rent a Car:

Proton Wira (Manual) RM150 + RM25 (CDW) per vehicle per day

Proton Wira (Auto) RM165 + RM25 (CDW) per vehicle per day

Mitsubishi Galant (Auto) RM240 + RM40 (CDW) per vehicle per day

Merce4es Van MB 100 (P) RM270 + RM50 (CDW) per vehicle per day

Mitsubishi Space Wagon (A) RM220 + RM40 (CDW) per vehicle per day

Toyota Hiace (D) RM210 + RM40 (CDW) per vehicle per day

Produa Kembata 4WD (Manual) RM175 + RM30 (CPW) per vehicle per day

Daihatsu Feroza 4WD (Manual) RM175 + RM30 (CPW) per vehicle per day

Minimum rental charge is one day 24 hours. Extra hours are charged at 1/6 of the applicable daily rate to the maximum of six hours, thereafter a full day rate and CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) will be charged.

MOTORCYCLES AND BICYCLE

Motorcycles of all shapes and sizes can be rented for a minimum of RM 25-40 a day. Motorcycles can be hired at stands all over the island for about RM 25.00 per day. Most hotel provided bicycles for free other wise bicycles rental are available for RM12.00 per day.
