2005 BMW Royal Langkawi International Regatta
The first Royal Langkawi International Regatta in 2003 exploded onto the Asian racing scene - the sails of more than 60 yachts set fire to the calm waters of Langkawi. The 2004 regatta enjoyed the sponsorship of BMW and maintained the excitement with the largest number of multihills ever entered in an Asian regatta. It was hailed as one of the best organized regattas ever in Asia, and was crowned by a huge gala in Kuala Lumpur attended by Asian glitterati.
The 2005 BMW Royal Langkawi International Regatta promises to be the biggest and best ever, building on the success and experience gained to date. Rebak Champagne Run 2005 This 120 nautical mile yacht race to Langkawi is a fun event for yachts cruising from Phuket to Langkawi for the BMW RLIR. The fastest yacht under sail from Phuket to Pulau Rebak in the Langkawi group of islands is the winner. All finishers receive a bottle of Champagne.
The Prime Minister's Challenge Trophy Presented to the yacht with the lowest score for the series competing in Class One Division A and B and declared the overall winner of the 2005 BMW Royal Langkawi International Regatta. Additional regatta prizes may be awarded for Line Honors and individual day races or other achievements. The Langkawi Sports Trophy Presented to the yacht with the lowest score for the series competing in Class One Division D and E declared the winner of the 2005 Langkawi Sportsboat Regatta. Additional prizes may be awarded for Line Honors and individual day races or other achievements.
The Malaysian Multihull Challenge Cup Presented to the yacht with the lowest score for the series competing in Class one Division C and declared the winner of the 2005 Multihull Regatta. Additional prizes may be awarded for Line Honors and individual day races or other achievements.The Commodore's Challenge Cup Presented to the yacht with the lowest score for the series competing in Class Two declared the winner of the 2005 Club Handicap Regatta. Additional prizes may be awarded for Line Honors and individual day races or other achievements.
