FAUNA & FLORA ECO EXCURSIONS

Naturalist Bidin Hussin has studied the fauna and flora of Langkawi for more than ten years, guiding thousands of scientists, naturalists and interested visitors through the wonders of Langkawi"s rich and ancient ecology.

Daily excursions with small groups accompanied by a trained naturalist are a great opportunity to visit and begin to understand the planet"s richest ecosystems. Visitors often see many of the ‘hidden" species of Langkawi, including sea otters, dolphin, monitor lizards, monkeys, prehistoric mudskippers - the fish that walks, ancient horseshoe crabs and more.

MANGROVE SAFARI

A 5 to 6 hour excursion by speedboat that includes mangrove orientation and explanation why mangroves are so crucial to the continued health of the oceans. You will visit caves, see many species of animals, see traditional fishermen at work, visit a local fish farm to learn about how wild fish live and can be farmed, and see eagle feeding with dozens of raptors swooping just meters away. Includes a secluded tropical island beach stop for swimming and lunch at the Barn Thai restaurant in the heart of the mangrove. Cost 160 /90 RM Adult/Children 3-9 years includes lunch & hotel transfers.

JUNGLE TREKKIING

Explore the tropical rainforest on this 2 ½ to 3 hour walk. A naturalist explains the rainforest ecology and points out interesting features. We often see monkeys, hornbills & other tropical birds, scorpions, millipedes & centipedes, medicinal plants, lianas and epiphytes.

Cost 95/70 RM Adult/Child 5-9 years old includes hotel transfers.

BIRDWATCHING

These 4 or 8 hour excursions by vehicle take you to the best venues across Langkawi to see rare and colorful tropical birds including Langkawi"s famous hornbills, kingfisher, herons, lapwings, eagles, kites and more.

Cost includes transport, binoculars, refreshments & hotel transfers 180/120 RM Adult/Child for 4 hours, 350/200 RM for 8 hours
