Pantai Cenang Area Overview
Pantai Cenang is at the south-western tip of Langkawi, about twenty-five kilometres from Kuah. A two kilometre beach with fine powdery sand is lined by picturesque chalets built no higher than the coconut trees (thanks to a government ruling). Pantai Cenang is a good choice if you're looking for a relaxing time at the beach as well as a little bit of modern entertainment. Popular during peak tourist season, Pantai Cenang has something for everyone, including the following attractions. Agri-Tourism Complex The Agri-Tourism Complex features a museum amidst prettily landscaped gardens. It is to be found at the northern part of Pantai Cenang.
ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES
Discover the beauty and serenity of Underwater World, where visitors are given the chance to get up close and personal with denizens of the deep. The largest aquarium in Asia with a walk-through tunnel, more than 5000 marine and freshwater species reside here. Visitors can experience the wonder of literally being in the midst of these graceful, colourful and awe-inspiring creatures, from the majestic to the small, everyday from 10 in the morning until 6 in the evening. An experience not to be missed, for approximately RM10 per child and RM18 per adult.
The only one of its kind in Malaysia, the Laman Padi is an ideal place for foreign tourists to learn more about one of Asia's staple foods. Visit the Rice Museum, Rice Farm, Rice Garden and Rice Restaurant. For only RM2, one gets to visit a padi field with a difference at the Rooftop Rice Garden where padi are cultivated right on the roof of the building. The Rice Restaurant offers delicious delicacies made of rice that are sure to surprise and tempt you.
For those with energy to spare, there are restaurants, lively entertainment and socialising to be had at local bars. As for those who like shopping, there is the Zon Duty-free Shopping Complex where visitors can "shop til they drop", choosing from electrical goods, cigarettes, beer, a wide range of imported foodstuffs like chocolates, biscuits and jams, as well as branded clothes and items. When the tide has gone down, you can take a leisurely stroll along the beaches, taking a closer look at the local marine life and collecting beautiful seashells. Alternatively, you can take a walk across to Pulau Rebak Kecil located closeby, remembering you'll have to make tracks for home not too long after as the tide will only stay low for about two hours. Boats are available for hire if you'd like to go over to see what the nearby Pantai Tepor has to offer.
